COACHES
All personal trainers and coaches at True North Performance are independently managed, but all are committed to taking a health-first approach. It is our responsibility to provide programs appropriate to the client, as well as instill confidence in the process.
We want to welcome all clients by asking them to join the True North Performance team in the commitment to take ownership of their health and efforts, so we can pursue all goals with intention. We believe true health and fitness requires active participation and understanding in order to offer clarity, confidence and longevity to the lifestyle athlete.
We hope to welcome you to the pursuit!

As your trainer, I’m a fellow sojourner and encourager in your journey to strength. I’m grateful for the health and fitness I’ve achieved, but it’s never been easy. I have chosen to become a coach to be a support to anyone willing to pursue better health and fitness, because I know it’s an uphill battle for all of us, and we all need encouragement along the journey!
I grew up in a household that celebrated academic achievement and frowned upon athletics. Consequently, I was smart and chubby. I carried this nerdy persona throughout high school and college, always longing to break out of my own shell. I thought athleticism was natural and God-given. I did not know it could be trained.
My fitness journey has seen many phases including aerobics classes, yoga, pilates, hiking, CrossFit, and various weight training regimens. I’ve tried all the different diets: Body for Life, HCG, Keto, Whole 30, Paleo. They all worked to varying degrees, but I just couldn’t breakthrough. It didn’t help that I’ve also battled hormone issues my whole life and had two ankle reconstruction surgeries.
If you think you’re alone with “your issues”, it’s not true. We all bring baggage, busy lives, past failures and different health barriers to the table. But I have discovered that small disciplines enacted over a sustained period of time CAN make a huge difference in quality of life, body composition and health, even during times of stress.
I would love the opportunity to show you what I’ve learned: that strength gains in the gym can translate to strength gains emotionally and spiritually. That the discipline of fueling your body nutritiously leads to the fueling of your body emotionally. That showing up with love for yourself, day in and day out, translate to greater capacity for love and grace for those closest to you.
Grit and grace go hand in hand, so let’s walk in strength together!

My fitness journey really began as a pre-teen, and began developing in my early twenties. After having my two daughters, I began to struggle with my weight and self-image. It was in an attempt to change this, that I decided to sign up for my first 5K. I loved how the training made me feel, both physically and emotionally. I continued to run 5K’s, added half marathons, sprint triathlons, cardio kick boxing, obstacle course races, and my favorite, the Spartan. It was in the training for these events and the success that I felt within me, that triggered my lifetime goal of becoming healthy. It was also through this process of growth, that God created in my heart a desire to share this knowledge with others, and empower them to be the best person that they could be.
Nutrition is fundamental to a healthy lifestyle as well, and the best way to practice this is as a family. It can be a daunting task to try and feed a family, when certain members are on a specific diet. Diet can be such a roller coaster. Sitting together as a family and eating the same foods, makes meal planning that much easier. To make life changes in nutrition, the diet needs to be simple, attainable, and family-friendly. Whole foods and nutrient dense foods are the key. I can help guide you through your nutrition and diet challenges, so that you and your family all have a balanced nutrition in your new healthy lifestyle.
My passion as a trainer and nutrition coach is a desire to inspire in others a means of reaching their goals, whether it be in fitness, nutrition, or both. I want to help you to be strong through every season of your life, and I would be honored to share this journey with you.

My name is Steph. I am wife to Dave, mother of three, homeschooler, powerlifter, previous all-conference college softball player, and certified personal trainer through NSCA. I began training in 2016 and since that time have grown in my love for fitness, body composition changes, strength, safe and healthy body movement patterns, mobility, and fun and effective gym time.
I currently compete in powerlifting competitions through USA Powerlifting. I LOVE teaching a love for fitness and strength through healthy movement to clients at all ages and levels of fitness experience. I have helped train my own teenage children through the sports of powerlifting, club gymnastics, and club swimming.
My goal for my client-trainer relationship is to encourage you to achieve whatever goals you have. Because of my experience in and out of the gym, I have a depth of perspective to draw from as I challenge and motivate clients.
Outside the gym, I like to spend time playing and camping with my family, reading, playing volleyball and softball, and caring for (chasing) my 19 mostly ridiculous yet beloved critters around our property.
If you are someone who wants to improve your fitness level, change your body composition, build strength, improve athletic performance, or just have a chance to build a healthy habit into your life, please let me come alongside you in that journey. This is a journey that will benefit you physically but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I truly look forward to working with you!
